The 104,425 square foot recreation center offers the latest recreation facilities and fitness equipment daily. In November 1995, the center completed a multi-million dollar transition from the Snively Hockey Arena into the Hamel Recreation Center
The Hamel Rec Center's lower level houses two multi-purpose courts (MACs) within a hockey dasher board system, four racquetball courts, an international al squash court, a 7,500 square feet fitness/weight center, a fitness assessment area, and an equipment issue room. The upper level contains three basketball courts, while the middle level includes the entrance security desk, lounge, classroom, club rooms, offices, and an elevated jogging track above the MAC courts.
The facility also houses two multi-purpose rooms for aerobics, dance, martial arts, and fencing, plus two full service locker rooms. The locker rooms include ample shower facilities and a sauna in each room.
