What's included?

Each membership purchased includes entry to the Hamel Recreation Center (HRC). Members have full access to the facility including use of Group Exercise Classes, Basketball Courts, Bouldering Wall, Fitness Areas, Racquetball, Squash, Multi-Purpose Courts, Demonstration Kitchen, and Health & Wellness space. You must be 18 years or older to workout at the HRC.

Access to the Outdoor Pool and Indoor Pool are not included with a Monthly/Annual membership or part-time student pass.

Faculty/staff have access to the indoor pool and Mendums pond.

Daily Passes 

Daily Passes can be purchased at the front desk and are valid for the whole day issued. You must be 18 years or older to purchase pass. Day Passes are non-refundable.

Faculty/Staff Membership 

To qualify for the Faculty/Staff discount, payment options are available. 

  • Annual Option - members can pay for an annual membership that starts at the date of purchase. Just go to the Welcome Center at the HRC to sign up.

Faculty/Staff use their UNH ID's to gain entry to the HRC.

Part-Time Students & Student Spouses 

Passes for part-time students and student spouses are sold by the semester. The cost of the pass is not pro-rated during the semester. Passes cannot be refunded, cancelled or transferred.

Please Note: ID's are required to enter the Hamel Recreation Center.  
Students and faculty/staff use their UNH ID's to gain entry. All other members will be issued a Campus Recreation pass upon purchase. 

Refund Policy

Monthly Membership - Nonrefundable/nontransferable. Reminder expires 30 days from date of purchase.

Annual Memberships or Semester Memberships – Nonrefundable.  Reminder expires 365 days from date of purchase.

Seasonal Memberships – No Refunds. Reminder expires at duration of the season.

MVP or Multi-Visit Passes - No refunds.  Reminder expires 365 days from date of purchase.

Refunds for extenuating circumstances will be considered but not guaranteed by the Coordinator of Member Services. Requests must be submitted via email during the valid time of membership, not after expiration.

Please note: Mendums Pond does not have a credit card reader on site. Please pay with credit card online here or pay with cash at Mendums.

Registration Instructions

  1. Visit the Mendums Pond Passes Page
  2. If you are a UNH Faculty/Staff/Students or have previously created an account, click the ‘Log In’ button in the top right corner.
    • If you are not affiliated with the university, and do not have an account, click the Sign-Up button in the top right corner. Follow the on-screen prompts to fill in the necessary information. Make sure to check your email to activate your account. Log in following steps 1 and 2.
    • UNH Faculty/Staff/Students click the blue UNH log in button and use your UNH credentials to log in.
    • Community Members click the orange local button and log in using the account credentials you previously created.
  3. Under Mendums Pond Passes, select the Mendums Pond Admission and/or Boat Rental you would like to purchase.
  4. To Register multiple people or rent multiple boats at once, Click Add to Cart and Continue Shopping to continually add day passes until you are ready to Check Out.
  5. Check out and pay online. A confirmation receipt with your purchase order and passes attached will be sent to your email.
  6. Display your receipt and attached passes to Mendums Pond Staff when checking in.

  7. Click yes to accept the policy questions when prompted.
  8. Add to cart and proceed to check out.

Refund Policy

Outdoor Pool Multi-Visit Passes - No refunds. All sales final. Swipes expire at end of the summer season and are non-transferable to other years.

All Swasey Indoor Pool memberships and Multi-Visit Passes (MVPs) must be purchased in person at the Hamel Recreation Center Welcome Center on 5 Edgewood Rd, Durham, NH 03824.

The Swasey Indoor Pool will be open to the public Monday, October 21.

Spring Swasey Memberships will be posted in mid-November.

Memberships will remain active until the end of the month that said cancellation was requested, thus all policies will be applicable until the confirmed membership end date. There will be no refunds for current or prior months regardless of use of membership. 

Annual Memberships or Semester Memberships – No refunds.  May be eligible for prorated refunds for special circumstances only (medical, leaving UNH employment).  Requests must be submitted in writing to Campus Recreation to the Coordinator of Member Services for consideration. There will be no refunds for current or prior months regardless of use of membership.  

Seasonal Memberships – No Refunds (Student Summer Pass, OP Memberships, Mendums). 

Personal Training Memberships 

Monthly Membership - No refunds. Membership cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to Campus Recreation to the Fitness Coordinator by the 15th of the current month to take effect the following month. All cancellation requests will be confirmed by email with the membership end date by the Fitness Coordinator. Memberships will remain active until the end of the month that said cancellation was requested, thus all policies will be applicable until the confirmed membership end date. There will be no refunds for current or prior months regardless of use of membership. 

PT Programming Only (4 month Membership) – No refunds. 

MVP Passes: 

MVP or Multi-Visit Passes - No refunds.  

OA Trips, Classes, Certifications, Birthday Parties, Lessons and other Academic Year Youth Programs 

Registrations for trips, classes, certifications, lessons, birthday parties, academic year youth programs and any other Campus Recreation programs are non-refundable.  If unable to attend and Campus Recreation is provided a minimum of 7 days notice, a credit will be made available for a comparable program within the same academic or fiscal year.  If Campus Recreation cancels a program, full refunds will be given.  

Youth Camps 

Consistent with all other UNH youth camps.

All dues paid to participate in club sports are nonrefundable.
